You may have Tozan Shusho confused with Tozan Ryokai (dongshan lian-je). Tozan Shuso is MM 15 – 60 blows and also three pounds of flax. He was Yunmen’s disciple. Tozan Ryokai, of course, was much earlier. A common mistake..
bows,
Very interesting and enlightening site. I am an ethnic Chinese living in Australia. I think I know how hard and inexplicable Buddhism appears to the Western mind. You have done a very good job of breaking down that cultural barrier, apart from putting here the good reading. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
