Zen Master Joshu on Relativity

A monk asked.” Without uniting it or breaking it up, how is it known about“?
The master said, ”You are one I am one“.
The monk said, ” That is uniting, what is separating“?
The master said, ” you are doing the uniting“.
The point
Words and concepts create relativity. Its not possible to form a concept without creating the opposite of that concept. Our intellect is structured in a dual mode. The foundation of mind is in conflict with itself. It is a binary system: on, off, black, white, good, bad, true, false, high, low. etc.
The master knows this so he avoids words and just POINTS to himself and the monk as one. The one reality is “it”. His way is CONCRETE.
The monk is not pointing but uses his intellect and UNITES the master and himself. However, this is an ABSTRACTION not reality itself. “Uniting” is non-existing since it cannot exist by itself. It needs an opposite a “separation” to be.
But this is a schizophrenic “being”, it is CHOSEN and RELATIVE as its premises are TWO, not ONE. In other words It’s a fabricated split reality, an illusion. Hence the point is that Zen is about “what is” and not about something which can be expressed in abstract language. Zen cannot be spoken of, one can only point to it.
